Acupuncture GERD Study

A very interesting study on the effects of acupuncture on GERD.

At the end of the article is a very intriguing section where "Researchers wonder whether having H. pylori helps prevent GERD and other diseases".

I wonder if there is any correlation between the increased number of anti-biotics have resulted in the decline of the Helicobacter pylori and other fauna in the stomach that can trigger transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxations (TLESRs).

Good GERD Resources

Well, not the prettiest subject in the world, but I was recently diagnosed with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), which is a malfunction of the sphincter at the top of the stomach (and/or other stomach/esophagael problems) that allows stomach acids to back up causing irritation and damage to the esophagus.

. . . .

I was diagnosed almost a month ago and have been following the direction of the ENT that did the endoscopy and made the diagnosis.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t → Continue reading “Good GERD Resources”

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing . . .

From Sonia:

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing.

He concludes
by saying:

"Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed in an accident."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims, "That’s terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as
the president sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and
asks……….

"How many is a brazillion?"→ Continue reading “Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing . . .”

Could AgroBusiness Be One of the Next Big Things In America?

Currently, the US is not participating in the carbon trade.  Interestingly enough, we posess some of the most fertile ground in the world and have, historically been able to grow an abundance of agricultural products.

What if we started an initiative, whereby, instead of paying our farmers to sit idle, we actively encouraged the growth of any number of fast-growing, fibrous plants that we could use to generate food, fuel, paper, cloth, and . . . create a carbon-sink → Continue reading “Could AgroBusiness Be One of the Next Big Things In America?”

Here we are in this wholly fantastic Universe with scarcely a clue as to whether our existence has any real significance. No wonder then that many people feel the need for some belief that gives them some sense of security, and no wonder that they become angry with people like me who say that this security is illusory. But I do not like the situation any better than they do.

Naturally, the common people don’t want war, but they can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. Tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and endangering the country. It works the same in every country

BuyBlue.org: Vote with your Wallet

From Sonia:

I just was passed this link by the Montgomery County Democrats:

http://www.buyblue.org/index.html

Big name companies are rated in terms of how much money they donated to
either Republican or Democratic causes. Look up your computer maker, the
last airline you flew on, the last grocery store you shopped at. My
results were rather frightening and I might need to change where I buy
chickpeas for Ryan and I. :-) I guess one of the ways we can vote
